Los Cabos is a destination that is filled with marvelous natural beauty seemingly everywhere you look, and you will get to see it up close and personal when you make a visit to Lover’s Beach. While the vision you may have upon hearing the name Lover’s Beach might look like a romantic and secluded spot where you can bask in Cabo’s sunny weather in privacy with your special someone, in reality it is a busy and popular place for tourists to visit. With that being said, however, a trip to Los Cabos is simply not complete without a journey to see Lover’s Beach for yourself!
So, what does a visit to Lover’s Beach entail? Keep reading to find out!
Getting to Lover’s Beach
Lover’s Beach is not accessible by foot or car, which means you can only get there easily by boat. Catching a ride from Medano Beach or the marina on a water taxi is a quick option, or you can get there in a boat equipped with a glass bottom that allows you to view the fish and other sea life underneath you. Trips on these boats are one of the most famous and inexpensive tourist attractions (a round trip costs around $10 USD per person) in Los Cabos. You will board the boat in the marina and make the short journey in a glass-bottomed boat over to El Arco, the breathtaking landmark made up of dramatic rock formations. There, you will likely see lots of wildlife and have plenty of great photo opportunities, too. Afterward, the boat will take you to nearby Lover’s Beach to drop you off.
What to expect while there
There are no stores or restaurants at Lover’s Beach, so you will want to make sure and take along an amount of food and drinks (especially water) that is adequate for the amount of time you plan to spend there. Since there are no businesses on this particular beach, there are no beach umbrellas there to provide shade, so make sure to take your own and pack plenty of sunscreen to keep your skin protected from the hot sun. The seclusion of the beach also means that there are not any restrooms, so be prepared for that by using the facilities in town before you head there.
What to do at the beach
The water at Lover’s Beach is incredibly clear, which will give you the opportunity to spot the fish that frequent the area whether you are swimming or snorkeling with gear that you took along with you. If you plan to stay a while, you can take along some lightweight toys like frisbees or beach balls to play with. Or pack your favorite books or magazines and get caught up on your reading. A picnic on the beach is always fun, so you could also take along a meal that you make ahead or pick up in town on your way there. Take a walk and explore the area; just a few minutes away is another beach, Divorce Beach, which faces the Pacific Ocean. This stretch of sand certainly feels more secluded than its neighboring beach, thanks in part to the fact that the waves and undercurrent are strong here and therefore makes the water unapproachable. However, if you decide to stay later in the day, you can catch a spectacular sunset there.
