Table of Contents

Are you wondering what to do in Los Cabos on your next vacation? Or maybe you’re a regular visitor to the destination and are looking for some new and exciting activities this time around? This guide is full of suggestions for anyone looking to do something a bit different this trip!

1. Go Whale Watching

If you visit Los Cabos during whale watching season, between mid-December and mid-April, and you’re keen for a little adventure to break up your relaxing vacation at the resort, then you should try a whale watching tour! Whale Watch Cabo’s tours are all guided by passionate marine biologists. These tours regularly include encounters with humpback whales and gray whales, as well as sea lions, sea turtles, and bottlenose dolphins.

Choose from group tours, zodiac adventure tours, and private tours, all around 2.5 hours long. There is also a 2-Day Gray Whale Van Tour for the real whale enthusiasts, which includes meals and transportation.

2. Golf at Cabo Real Golf Club

Book a day out on the green and enjoy a stress-free afternoon while the ocean breezes guide you along the world-class course.

The stunning Cabo Real Golf Club is only a 6-minute drive away from the Garza Blanca resort, and boasts a 2,800-acre property. Golfing may not be something you thought you could do in Los Cabos, but this course will make you realize otherwise! The 18-hole course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and opened in 1993. It is one of the most beautiful golf courses you will find, with rolling green, towering trees, and irresistible ocean views.

3. Visit El Arco

El Arco (the arc) is one of the most famous landmarks in Los Cabos. It is located at the end of the Baja Peninsula, also known as “Land’s End.” El Arco marks the place where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez.

There are many ways for travelers to get to El Arco. Lover’s Beach is connected to the rock formation and is the perfect place to bask in the sun while giving you a great view of the arc (so is Divorce Beach—you can choose whichever tickles you more!). There are different tours that guests can book, like the one from EcoCat Catamaran Tours to guide you as well. This tour includes free drinks, and guests have the option of snorkeling! Equipment is provided for those wishing to explore the oceanic depths.

4. Glass Bottom Boat Excursion

Sail across the stunning aqua-marine sea water while the golden sun warms you. Peek down into the ocean through a glass window on the floor of your boat as your tour guide sails you from place to place.

This tour available through Viator is flexible as excursions start anywhere between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. Guests can choose to visit many different popular tourist destinations such as the Sea Lions Colony, Pirate’s Cove, and Pelican Rock. Guides will also let you swim at Medano Beach or Lover’s Beach for as long as you desire. Get acquainted with the beautiful marine life beneath you and see it up close on a glass bottom boat tour!

5. Become a SUP Pro

The goal of most traveler’s Mexican vacations is to enjoy the sun and experience the warm ocean water. With this CABO SUP tour, you can do both! Located at Medano Beach, you can choose from paddle board lessons, rentals, or guided tours, for an exciting water expedition in the sizzling sun.

Whether this is your first time paddling or SUP is your passion, regardless of skill level, it’s a great way to enjoy the ocean and Medano Beach is the perfect base from which to explore the area. If you are just starting out, don’t worry, experienced guides will show you tips and tricks to become a pro before you know it.

6. Learn about Glassblowing

Book a tour online or go scope it out yourself! The Glass Factory prides themselves on creating beautiful hand blown glass from figurines to decorative hearts to glasses, plates, and bowls. You can also make a special order if there’s something else you want for yourself or for a loved one.

The Glass Factory was founded by Sebastian Romo in 1990. Originally, the factory was started to meet demands of local hotels and restaurants. Slowly Romo was able to teach his techniques to artisans right here in Los Cabos so they were able to create glassware up to his standards. There is a gallery and showroom that guests can enjoy and marvel at the works of art in. Artisans at The Glass Factory use only lead-free, recycled glass for their creations.

7. Shop for Art

San Jose del Cabo is one of the two towns that make up Los Cabos, the other one being Cabo San Lucas. It has a small-town charm to it and a colorful city center packed with character. One of the best parts is that from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday evenings, during high tourist season (November through June), the town comes alive, and everyone gathers to eat, drink, and appreciate art of all kinds.

Plaza Mijares fills with artisans selling their homemade goods while galleries and local shops extend their hours to host the wave of tourists and locals that have come to enjoy the art walk. Wander through and enjoy the artistic innovation while live music carries you through San Jose’s vibrant streets.

8. Eat at El Merkado

This is a relatively new culinary experience to appear on the stretch of highway between San Jose and Cabo San Lucas. It has a unique feel to it, similar to a New York eatery as it is an indoor market full of vendors selling everything from wood-fired pizza to traditional Mexican food.

It’s cool, lively, and trendy—definitely worth checking out if you’re in need of a bite to eat!

9. Try Tamales Doña Nina and Churromania

Another amazing local place to eat in Los Cabos is at Tamales Doña Nina. These tamales are unbeatable and are made by women who have been making delicious goods for years. There is a choice between multiple delectable meat fillings or fresh vegetarian options. To top it all off, grab a hot churro from the Churromania stand right next to Doña Nina.

10. Visit the Hot Springs of El Chorro

Still looking for something else to do in Los Cabos? Take a trip out to the little-known hot springs at El Chorro. These are more accessible than others in the area (such as the Santa Rita Hot Springs).

Bask in the glorious, warm, natural springs amongst the trees and in the middle of the rocky Los Cabos wilderness. This is the perfect way to balance out a stay in your resort—with a trek back into nature.

This list should keep you very busy with things to do in Los Cabos—and hopefully inspire you with some unique ways to spend your time. Choose multiple options from the list to add dimension and variety to your stay in sunny Mexico and try something new this trip!
