Update October 23, 2018 – Hurricane Willa Has Passed

We are delighted to share that Hurricane Willa was dropped to a category 3 and has now passed by Puerto Vallarta. Last night’s gentle rainfall was all that occurred, and weather reports suggest sporadic light rains through tomorrow. These are lovely this time of year as they cool the air and nourish the lush jungle before the dry season. Puerto Vallarta took every necessary precaution and placed extra lifeguards and security along the beach to keep onlookers and adventurous, boogie-boarding teenagers safe from the large waves.

The city is fully active today with tourists visiting shops and restaurants with open doors. It has been pleasantly dry with light breezes making it the perfect weather to wander the streets and see the sites without concern for heat or sunburn. There are a few outdoor markets and vendors who are closed for the day as they had prepared for a storm, but they are sure to be back on the streets by tomorrow.

Take advantage of the calm and sip a coffee while watching the waves crash on the shore or slip into that restaurant that has always been too busy. Open the doors in your suite and let the cool air flow through as you watch the clearing skies. Or perhaps take a walk and see how a city who cares about its people prepared to protect them if needed. The quiet is pleasant and rare for this time of year, so be sure to get out and enjoy the seclusion.

We are all very happy that none of the precautions were necessary, and we hope you continue to explore and enjoy the lovely Puerto Vallarta.

Current Puerto Vallarta Weather
Current Puerto Vallarta Weather, October 22nd, 2018.

Hurricane Willa has now been raised to a category 4, but Puerto Vallarta is fortunate to be deep in the Banderas Bay with jungle covered mountains to the north and south. The structure of the coastline keeps us sheltered from most hurricanes and major storms, and we rarely see any damage from weather.

The Puerto Vallarta Airport has not issued any flight cancellations and is currently fully operational, and all street transportation is also still available. If you are travelling in the next 48 hours, simply use caution and follow any protocols given by the authorities.

Currently the forecast shows two days of tropical storms that may be elevated by the hurricane passing just north of us. We will have sunny skies again on Thursday.

If your flight schedule has been altered in any way, please call us directly so that we can work with your current arrival time or make any adjustments that may be necessary. We cannot offer full cancellations without a penalty fee for the sake of our staff and other guests, but we will try to accommodate your travel plans now or in the future.

We wish we could change the weather, but since we cannot, we can guarantee you will still have a wonderful stay. Your holiday is important to us, and we hope to see you soon.
