Garza Blanca Preserve Resort & Spa in Puerto Vallarta is proud to announce that it has been awarded the Four Diamond Certification by AAA again in 2019! This is the fifth year in a row that Garza Blanca has received this prestigious award. 

This outstanding achievement reflects our consistent mission to provide the highest quality service, and to be the most refined luxury resort in the Puerto Vallarta area. 

The Four Diamond distinction is a metric for the property and our dedicated team – something we strive for every year – and when we achieve it, it is a sign that our team is working to its full capacity.

What is AAA?

The American Automobile Association, also known as AAA (pronounced “Triple A”) was founded in Chicago in 1902 by nine American motoring clubs, and is now a federation of regional clubs located throughout North America. In the early days, AAA’s mission was to make roads and road trips better for drivers, as people throughout North America started buying cars and driving around the continent. 

AAA has always been a leader and advocate for the safety and security of all travelers. In addition to being well known for providing roadside assistance and other types of insurance, AAA has become recognized over the years as the world’s largest publisher of travel information, one of the world’s largest leisure travel agencies, one of the most active advocates for the welfare of the traveling public, and the largest seller of leisure travel in the word. 

AAA is a privately held non-profit national member association and service organization with over 58 million members in the United States and Canada.

What is the Four Diamond Award?

As a complement to its efforts in leisure travel, AAA developed its Diamond Certificate Rating system which provides guidelines to hotels and to consumers. 

The Diamond Levels describe the level of comfort and general experience that AAA members can expect when they arrive at a particular hotel. 

Each diamond on the scale indicates more comprehensive services and amenities, on a scale from no-frills to highly personalized. One Diamond indicates the accommodation will be very basic, typically just providing sleeping quarters and not too much else, for a low price. Two Diamonds indicates a step up, something casual and comfortable for couples or families, but still reasonably priced. Three Diamonds lets travelers know that they can find many of the comforts of home, with some services included. Four Diamonds expresses a much bigger step up, indicating the type of hotel or resort that travelers might like to visit for a special occasion, where they are sure to find the utmost comfort, plenty of amenities and full service. Five Diamonds marks the ultimate luxury experience, comprising only the top 0.4 percent of hotels rated by AAA.

According to AAA, “a Four Diamond hotel is refined and stylish, providing upscale physical attributes, extensive amenities and a high degree of hospitality, service and attention to detail.” If you stay at a four or five Diamond hotel, you can expect top quality luxury with impeccable service.

AAA conducts multiple unannounced visits to hotels and resorts around North America and the Caribbean each year, evaluating each one and assigning a Diamond rating. These unannounced visits include anonymous overnight stays and final review by a panel of experts at AAA.

Every year AAA reviews more than 27,000 hotels throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. Only 6.3 percent of those make the Four Diamond list. In 2019 only 1,722 hotels qualified for the Four Diamond Award.

AAA Inspector Notes

AAA inspectors write notes about each hotel and resort they evaluate, and publish them on the organization’s website. Have a look at what the inspector wrote about Garza Blanca! 

“The most difficult decision is whether to book an oceanfront room, or a clifftop unit with sweeping views from up high. The tropical grounds are outstanding. The rooms are very spacious, making them ideal for families, and feature a bold Mexican décor with bright art accent pieces. The larger units include fully equipped kitchens and the convenience of a washer and dryer. Smoke free premises. 165 units, some two bedrooms, three bedrooms, efficiencies and kitchens. 7-12 stories, interior/exterior corridors.”

Celebrating on the Property

AAA announced the Diamond Award winners on Jan. 31, 2019, and Tafer Resorts held a ceremony on June 26, 2019, in the Red Room in Puerto Vallarta. The staff from both Garza Blanca and Hotel Mousai enjoyed a nice breakfast, as this ceremony was held to honor Garza Blanca’s receipt of the Four Diamond Award for 2019, as well as Hotel Mousai’s receipt of the Five Diamond Award. 

The general managers of both resorts were in attendance, including Daniel Lopez of Garza Blanca Preserve Resort & Spa, Cecilia Bustos of Hotel Mousai, and Roger Schaaf, Vice President of Operations for Tafer Hotels & Resorts.

Fernando González Corona, President of Tafer Hotels & Resorts, recognized the entire staff for upholding the company’s high standards, and for having made the Four Diamond and Five Diamond Awards a reality again this year. He also gave a speech about personal growth and professional development within the company.

The Diamond Award plaques were presented to Daniel Lopez and Cecilia Bustos. At the end of the ceremony, group photos of the staff were taken.
