Garza Blanca are honored to announce the presence of Hugo D’Acosta at the luxury resort & spa for a special event that will include a vertical wine tasting as well as wine pairing dinner. Guests and visitors are cordially invited to make reservations at Blanca Blue restaurant as soon as possible to secure their place. Bordeaux trained, Hugo D’Acosta is considered Mexico’s leading enologist and a visionary winemaker whose wines are famed for their distinct clean style based on their terroir. In addition to his own four highly successful wineries, D’Acosta acts as a consultant for a number of wineries in the Guadalupe Valley region in Baja California, Mexico and opened a non-profit winemaking school, La Escuelita, in the same region. Mexico City born D’Acosta made his mark on the wine industry with his first winery, Casa de Piedra in Baja California and launched his debut vintage in 1997 where he focused on small scale production and low yields to enhance the concentration of fruit. Today in Mexico he is a celebrity wine guru whose bottles fetch over $150 in some restaurants.

The D’Acosta wine event will take place on December 6, 2013 in Garza Blanca’s acclaimed gourmet restaurant Blanca Blue, whose award winning wine cellar boasts a selection of more than 2,000 of the world’s finest labels. During the vertical wine tasting, which presents the same wine from different years, guests will try Vino de Piedra a red wine from the years 2008, 2009, 2010, and this will commence at 6pm followed by the wine pairing dinner at 7.30pm. There will also be opportunity to purchase the wines selected for the wine tasting.
