Garza Blanca Resort & Spa Los Cabos is currently closed due to the COVID-19 worldwide pandemic and national stay at home orders. The resort plans to reopen on June 20th, although we are still awaiting the definitive reopening date. In the meantime, Garza Blanca has enhanced health and sanitation programs, so here is an update on what is going on at the resort right now.
There are a few essential crews working on maintenance and deep cleaning the resort to ensure the resort is ready to reopen safely as soon as we get the green light from the authorities.
We know the world will be different in the first months after the quarantine period ends. We know that some people will be afraid to travel, and those who do travel, will look for the best options to guarantee their health using enhanced sanitation measures.
TAFER Resorts has issued new corporate policies and procedures for health and safety in the wake of the Coronavirus. We want to share these policies with you, so you are aware of the safety measures that we will be taking at Garza Blanca Resort & Spa Los Cabos.
Sanitation of Public Spaces
Areas of frequent contact such as reception podiums, suites, desks, phones, computers, tables, door handles, elevators, etc. must be cleaned daily at the start of each shift with sanitizing solution.
We are training all staff in correct hand washing techniques, and the managers are tasked with reinforcing this.
All staff who work in food consumption centers must wash their hands every 30 to 45 minutes, and the managers must enforce this.
Hand sanitizing gel is being purchased and installed in all areas of the hotel. Managers must ensure that staff use sanitizing gel. They must also ensure that sanitizing gel bottles are full and stocked in all appropriate areas, especially high traffic and high touch areas.
Masks and Gloves
Food processing personnel must wear masks and gloves at all times. In the rest of the resort, our current policy states that asymptomatic healthy people do not need to wear masks.
Staff are being instructed to limit physical contact, avoid handshakes, hugs, and kisses.
Social distancing is required for personnel inside and outside the hotel, as well as between departments.
Consumption Center Distancing
In order to follow social distancing protocols, we are changing buffet options to a-la-carte menus in any restaurants that previously provided a buffet option.
We are reducing the number of tables in the restaurants and the staff dining room in order to have space for appropriate social distancing.
The transportation companies that transport staff to and from the resorts must follow cleaning and protection protocols.
TAFER Resorts is working with providers like Ecolab to ensure adherence to global standards and improve health and sanitation.
Doctor On Site
An important thing to note is that when the resort reopens, there will be a doctor on staff to assess symptoms presented by employees, contractors, guests, residents, or owners.
Hotel managers will also be in continuous communication with all staff to provide information, medical assistance, and follow-up to anyone who presents symptoms.
If any staff or guests appear to be sick at the resorts, they will be kindly directed to the staff doctor, who will determine if this person is presenting symptoms that could be associated with COVID-19 and if the person should go to the hospital.
If the doctor determines that is necessary, Housekeeping must sanitize the areas where the staff member or guest had contact, taking the necessary personal protection precautions.
We’re Waiting for You
Through this crisis, our staff at Garza Blanca Los Cabos has not lost our passion for hospitality and service. We know we will come out of this better than ever, and even more eager to provide our guests with the best experience. We can’t wait to see you again!
