Enhanced Health and Sanitization Protocols

Table of Contents

Garza Blanca Resort & Spa Los Cabos got the green light to reopen from the authorities on June 20th, 2020 after being temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 worldwide pandemic. During the closure, crews worked on deep cleaning the resort and all TAFER Hotels and Resorts, including Garza Blanca, implemented enhanced health and sanitization protocols adhering to public health guidance and the advice of governmental authorities to be able to offer all guests and staff a safe and healthy environment to return to. We want to share these updates with you, so you are aware of the measures we have taken to ensure everyone’s safety.

We know the world has changed since the pandemic hit. We know that some people will be afraid to travel, and those who do travel, will look for the best options to guarantee their health using enhanced sanitization measures. We would like to assure our guests of the precautions we are taking. Below is an outline of the additional measures. We also recommend watching this video.

Temperature Checks

We have installed thermal cameras at the entrance to conduct non-invasive temperature checks. For staff members, our security team will be taking their temperatures daily when they arrive. Anyone with a temperature over 100°F / 38°C will be asked to take another temperature screening. For those showing a temperature over 100°F / 38°C, they will be directed towards appropriate medical care.

Sanitization of Public Spaces

Areas of frequent contact such as reception podiums, suites, desks, phones, computers, tables, door handles, elevators, etc. must be cleaned frequently and continuously with sanitizing solution.

Housekeeping

To minimize contact, guests will be able to pre-select the time of their daily housekeeping service. Maids have been trained in industry leading cleaning and sanitizing protocols which include continuous and more frequent cleaning, especially of high-touch surfaces such as faucets, door knobs and handles, furniture, light switches, and outdoor lounge seating. They will wear mandatory face masks during the cleaning service.

Pen, paper, writing pad and guest directory have been removed from the suites as well as extra pillows and blankets and will be available upon request. Reusable collateral has been replaced by single use collateral.

Hand Washing

We have trained all staff in correct hand washing techniques, and the managers are tasked with reinforcing this.

All staff who work in food consumption centers must wash their hands every 30 to 45 minutes, and the managers must enforce this.

Sanitizing Gel

Hand sanitizing gel dispensers have been installed in key areas of the hotel including elevator banks, restaurants, the spa and at the gym. Managers must ensure that staff use sanitizing gel. They must also ensure that sanitizing gel bottles are full and stocked in all appropriate areas, especially high traffic and high touch areas.

Masks and Gloves

Food processing personnel must wear masks and gloves at all times. All of our staff will wear mandatory face masks until further notice. All guests will be given a welcome amenity face mask upon arrival, but they are not required to wear the mask around the resort.

Social Distancing Practices

Guests will be encouraged to practice social distancing by standing at least 6 Feet / 1.8 Meters away from other groups of people not traveling with them. Staff members will be reminded to practice social distancing with co-workers and with guests and to limit physical contact, avoiding handshakes, hugs, and kisses.

In order to follow social distancing protocols, we changed buffet options to a-la-carte menus in any restaurants that previously provided a buffet option. We reduced the number of tables in the restaurants and the staff dining room in order to have space for appropriate social distancing.

Chaise longues in the pool and beach areas have been arranged to ensure appropriate distancing based on the space available.

All Tafer Resorts will comply with, or exceed local, state, or federal mandated occupancy limits.

Safe Transportation

The transportation companies that transport staff to and from the resorts must follow cleaning and protection protocols.

Global Standards

TAFER Resorts is working with providers like Ecolab to ensure adherence to global standards and improve health and sanitization.

Doctor On Site

An important thing to note is that there will be a doctor on site to assess symptoms presented by employees, contractors, guests, residents, or owners.

Hotel managers will also be in continuous communication with all staff to provide information, medical assistance, and follow-up to anyone who presents symptoms.

If any staff or guests appear to be sick at the resorts, they will be kindly directed to the staff doctor, who will determine if this person is presenting symptoms that could be associated with COVID-19 and if the person should go to the hospital.

If the doctor determines that is necessary, Housekeeping must sanitize the areas where the staff member or guest had contact, taking the necessary personal protection precautions.

On-Site COVID-19 Testing

All TAFER Hotels & Resorts, including Garza Blanca Los Cabos, offer on-site PCR and antigen testing for a discounted rate. For any guests who test positive while staying at TAFER’s resorts, they will be able to extend their stay with a discounted rate for both all-inclusive and room only reservations. Guests will be required to cover the cost of incidentals while quarantined in the comfort of their suite.

We’re Waiting for You

Through this crisis, our staff at Garza Blanca Los Cabos has not lost our passion for hospitality and service. We are even more eager to provide our guests with the best vacation experience. We can’t wait to see you again!
