Essential Items for a Fantastic Vacation in Puerto Vallarta

Table of Contents

Preparing for a vacation can be a stressful chore, especially if you have never been to the destination before and are not sure what to expect. Now that flights are more strict about your carry-on and check-in luggage, choosing what to take with you on vacation has become of greater relevance. Before packing, take a look at the advice below and see what your really need to make your vacation in Puerto Vallarta as perfect as possible.

WHAT TO PACK

Sun Protection

With over 320 days of sunshine a year in Puerto Vallarta, you are going to need sunscreen and cool clothing to protect you from the sun’s harmful rays. If you want to save on weight, you can always buy good quality sunscreens in Puerto Vallarta, but beware that you may not be able to find your favorite brand. Those with sensitive skin would be advised to bring a sunblock that is suitable for their skin-type. Although Garza Blanca Preserve has a doctor on site 24 hours, you really want to avoid any unnecessary allergic reactions!

English Magazines and Books

Puerto Vallarta has very few stores selling books in English and while there are relatively more locations where you can find magazines in English, they are generally much more expensive. If you have an iPad or kindle, that would be a great solution and would save on the weight of heavy books.

Binoculars

Puerto Vallarta is teaming with wildlife and natural wonders all around, certainly worth taking a closer look at. When staying at Garza Blanca Preserve, the views from your terrace will reveal a whole tapestry of exotic birds and vegetation and a pair of binoculars will magnify the beauty even further. More importantly, during the months of November through March, you might also be lucky to see with the naked eye whales jumping on the horizon from the comfort of your suite.

Your Driver’s License

Renting a car is a great choice for visitors to Puerto Vallarta and there are many wonderful beauty spots to be reached within easy driving distance from Garza Blanca Preserve. Car rental gives you the freedom and luxury to see Puerto Vallarta on your own schedule. Another benefit to bringing your driver’s license is that you can use it as official identification in most places (unless changing dollars in banks etc, when you will need to take your passport) and it is convenient proof of age. Carrying your driver’s license as oppose to your passport is much safer and certainly less hassle should you lose it. Although Puerto Vallarta has an American and Canadian consulate, replacing a passport will certainly take a huge chunk of your vacation trying to sort it out.

Medication

If you take regular meds, then it is very important to bring enough medication to cover your entire stay in Puerto Vallarta. While you might be able to buy products cheaper here, some treatments are not licensed in Mexico and it is best to be safe than sorry. If you are traveling with children, a small first-aid kit is also advised containing bandages etc and any medication that you trust from home, such as antihistamines or anti-diarrhoea pills. For more serious problems, guests at Garza Blanca Preserve can visit the site doctor while emergency assistance is provided by one of Puerto Vallarta’s most prestigious private hospitals.

Laptops, Tablets, MP3 Player etc

There is Internet connection in all suites at Garza Blanca Preserve, meaning that you can take advantage of your electronic devices to keep up with the world outside and keep in touch with social networks.

WHAT NOT TO PACK

Towels

Unless you have a favorite beach towel that follows you wherever you take a vacation, there really is no need to bring a towel. Garza Blanca Preserve provides suites with enough towels for the maximum number of guests in each suite. You will also be given towels to use by the pool and on the beach.

Winter Clothes

Even in December and January, temperatures do not get low enough for you to wear winter clothes. It might get cold enough to wear a sweater at night, but most of the time, your socks will remain in your suitcase. Traveling light is the best advice, giving you plenty of space for all the souvenirs, jewelry and clothes you can buy from the Boutique at Garza Blanca or in Puerto Vallarta’s flea market.

Your Stresses

Garza Blanca Preserve and Puerto Vallarta make no provision for your worries! You will simply have to leave them behind and allow the resort to help you forget them throughout your stay. With a little sunshine and pampering, it won’t take you long to lose track of your troubles.
