Puerto Vallarta Marathon Special Vacation Offers
If you are planning to travel to Puerto Vallarta during the dates surrounding the marathon, Garza Blanca and Hotel Mousai will be providing preferential rates when booking a stay at either property. Details About the Marathon
Competitive runners will have the option of participating in a full marathon (which will measure 42,195 meters) or a half marathon (which will measure 21,097 meters). Both races will begin at the Port Terminal in the marina on Sunday April 15, 2018 at 6:30 am. There will also be a recreational 5k race that will begin at 8:30 am for runners who want to challenge themselves without as much intense training beforehand. The various marathons welcome everyone to participate, from the general public to experienced athletes. The marathon races will observe the following age categories: Free (18-39 years old), Master (40-49 years old), Veteran (50-59 years old) and Veteran Plus (60 years and over). There will be a time limit of 6 hours for the marathon and a time limit of 3 hours for the half marathon.
Marathon Awards
The full marathon will award the first three female runners and the first three male runners to reach the finish line, no matter which age category they are in. Each first place winner will receive a $10,000 Mexican pesos prize, each second place winner will receive a $6,000 Mexican pesos prize and each third place winner will receive a $5,000 Mexican pesos prize. Each of these winners will not be eligible for any prizes in their respective age category. For the age categories, the first three female and first three male winners in each category will win a prize: each first place winner will receive a $4,000 Mexican pesos prize, each second place winner will receive a $3,000 Mexican pesos prize and each third place winner will receive a $2,000 Mexican pesos prize.
The half marathon will award the first three female runners and the first three male runners to reach the finish line in each age category. Each first place winner will receive a $2,000 Mexican pesos prize, each second place winner will receive a $1,500 Mexican pesos prize and each third place winner will receive a $1,000 Mexican pesos prize. The marathon awards ceremony will take place right after the race on Sunday April 15th, 2018 at 12:30 pm.
