Wedding Tips – To Eat or Not to Eat

Table of Contents

The typical bride-to-be has a vision of what her wedding day will be like, and that of course includes how she will look.  Many brides give themselves a goal weight to achieve or purchase a dress that may be a little snug to motivate them, and even the thinnest, fittest of brides may choose to go on a diet or cleanse in preparation of their big day.

With that being said, nutrition is an important part of keeping our bodies healthy and running at their optimal levels.  Although it is expected for most brides to diet leading up to their wedding, it is essential that every bride focuses on fueling herself with healthy fare the day of her wedding so she can power through the long day of excitement (and possible stress) with a smile on her face. It is not uncommon for brides to faint during the wedding, particularly in hot climates, so eating and drinking plenty of water throughout the day is very important.

Staying Healthy & Strong

Staying Healthy & Strong

It is extremely common for brides to comment long after their wedding is over that they did not have any time to eat at their own reception due to staying busy trying to greet each and every guest in between dancing, cutting the cake, throwing the bouquet and so on.  That knowledge alone should motivate any bride to get a good start to her day with a breakfast which includes plenty of protein, complex carbohydrates and healthy fats to keep her satisfied.

Depending on the time of her wedding, she might also dine on a light, healthy lunch such as a salad or keep several snack options with her as she prepares to say “I do”, such as nuts, avocado toast, protein bars, veggies or whole-grain crackers with hummus.  If she has been dieting leading up to the wedding, her reserves may be a bit low, and the last thing any bride wants to do is faint during her ceremony or reception, so keeping blood sugars in check with frequent snacks will go a long way to prevent a disaster.  Once the event is in full swing, brides should try to get in a few bites here and there to avoid feeling woozy, especially if consuming alcohol.

Hydration

Another key factor in maintaining a happily functioning, healthy body is to stay hydrated.  It is common for brides to worry that they will appear bloated if they drink too much water, but hydrating the body actually helps it flush out toxins and stay balanced.  On top of that, sipping plenty of water will help avoid becoming drunk, especially if the bride does not eat enough on her wedding day.
