DOWNTOWN – EL CENTRO

Most of Puerto Vallarta’s major art galleries are located in the Downtown area, a block or so from the Malecon.

Galeria Uno
The longest running art gallery in Puerto Vallarta, Galeria Uno boasts more than 40 years exhibiting contemporary Mexican and International artists. You will find a wide selection of prints, paintings, and sculptures that attest to the quality and finesse of Mexican art.

Galeria Omar Alonso
One of Puerto Vallarta’s most contemporary and exciting art galleries, Omar Alonso’s gallery is situated opposite Cafe des Artistes restaurant. It is a frequent venue for exhibitions that challenge local concepts of art and its function, breaking the way for contemporary art in Puerto Vallarta. Here you will see expositions of photography, etchings, sculpture, installations and art objects.

Galeria Corsica
Possibly the largest art gallery in the Downtown area, Galeria Corsica houses an impressive collection of contemporary Mexican fine art. Here you will note how art in Mexico has evolved and the direction in which contemporary Mexican artists are taking the techniques of painting, sculpture and art objects.
Mon-Sat, 11am-3pm and 6pm-10pm.

Galeria Pacifico
A long-standing art gallery with a successful history of delivering exceptional Mexican art with greater emphasis on local artists. This gallery has an eclectic selection of fine prints, paintings, and sculptures. From here you can reserve a space on the walking tour of the Malecon, usually guided by Galeria Pacifico owner, Gary Thompson.
Mon-Sat, 10am-8pm.

Galeria de Ollas
This ceramic gallery is dedicated to stunning Mata Ortiz pottery from the Mexican state of Chihuahua. The beautiful ceramic forms are incredibly detailed and decorated with modern designs that reflect pre-Columbian mythology and mysticism.
Mon-Fri, 10am-2pm and 4pm-7pm; Sat 10am-2pm.

The Loft Galeria
A quaint yet plentiful contemporary art gallery exhibiting unique paintings, photography, drawings, etchings , nd sculptures. Features key names in Mexican and International art circles.
Mon-Fri, 11am-6pm; Sat, 11am-3pm.

OLD TOWN (SOUTH SIDE)

In Puerto Vallarta’s Old Town on the South Side of the River Cuale, you will find another area of excellent art galleries as well as boutique jewelry stores and art shops.

Contempo Galeria
One of the newest and most contemporary art galleries in Puerto Vallarta, Contempo exhibits extravagant artworks, paintings and bronze sculptures on two levels. The gallery is committed to promoting both established as well as emerging talented artists.
Mon-Fri, 10am-2pm and 4pm-8pm; Sat 10am-2pm.

Dante Gallery
A huge gallery that is packed full of big names and original work by Mexican artists or those working in the local community. Paintings, sculptures, bronze works are on display in all their glory amidst fountains and plants.

INDIGENOUS ART
There is an eclectic abundance of indigenous art in Puerto Vallarta, with the most prominent group being the Huichol from the Sierra Madre Mountains in Western Mexico, whose weaving and beaded artwork is an ingenious craft passed down through the centuries.

This Huichol gallery boasts an incredible collection of yarn paintings and beaded animal sculptures that reflect the fascinating culture’s ceremony cycles and sacred relationship with the earth. It is also a fair-trade cooperative gallery.
