5 Ghoulish Cocktails for Halloween

Are you ready for a spooktacularHalloween? What better way to impress your adult guests and visitors than with some haunting cocktails for the bloodthirsty. Here we share the recipes for 5 halloween cocktails recommended by Blanca Blue’s head bartender for you to make at home or order at the bar at BocaDos STK and Blanca Blue if you happen to be at Garza Blanca Preserve during Halloween.

1. Jack-O-Lantern

This bright Halloween cocktail will complement your candlelit pumpkins this year, scaring you into the Halloween spirit. More like a refreshing summer drink than pumpkin flavored, this cocktail will set your taste buds flying.

Ingredients:

• 1 ounce Hennessy VSOP Cognac

• 1 1/2 ounces orange juice

• 1/2 ounce ginger beer

• 1/2 ounce Grand Marnier orange liqueur

• Slice of orange and lime rind to garnish

Instructions:

Use a cocktail shaker to mix all the ingredients with ice. Strain and serve in a short rounded glass adding a slice of orange with a lime rind stalk to the top.

2. Morgue-a-rita

Give your Halloween guests a deadly version of a traditional Mexican margarita. The Morgue-a-rita cocktail adds a gruesome element to your party drinks.

Recipe:

Green Goo

• 1/8 cup light corn syrup

• Green food coloring

Cocktail

• 1/2 ounce lime juice

• 1 1/2 ounces tequila

• 1/2 ounce triple sec

• Soda

• 1 cherry

• 1 teaspoon cherry syrup

Instructions:

Mix the syrup and green food coloring to prepare the green goo and then dip a frozen glass into the mixture, allowing the goo to drip down the side of the glass. Put the glass back in the freezer to set. Add a cherry to the end of a stirrer and then add to the glass covering it with some cherry syrup. Pour the tequila, triple sec and lime juice into a shaker with ice, then strain and pour over the syrup before adding the soda at the end.

3. Swamp Demon

This delicious cocktail is supposed to look like you are drinking swamp water; however, the sophisticated flavors of this gin-based cocktail combined with a tart lime flavor are refreshing. Adding lime marmalade is optional to give the cocktail a swampy texture.

Ingredients:

• 2 ounces of gin

• ½ ounce lime juice

• ½ ounce simple syrup

• 1 bar spoon lime marmalade

• Lime zest for garnish

Instructions:

Use a shaker to prepare all the ingredients with ice. Strain and add the contents to a cooled martini glass using lime zest to give the appearance of swamp grass.

4. El Diablo

Are you ready to tempt the Devil this Halloween? A sparky blend of aged tequila, creme de cassis, lime juice and ginger beer, el Diablo is a refreshing Mexico-inspired cocktails for Halloween parties.

Ingredients:

• 1 1/2 ounces reposado tequila

• 1/2 ounce creme de cassis

• 1/2 ounce lime juice

• Ginger beer

Instructions:

Add all the ingredients to a shaker. Shake well and serve over ice.

5. Ghost Rider

This cocktail is a creamy option like a liquified ghost. More like a delicious dessert with vanilla syrup, cream and vodka; they are so good, you might have to count how many you have in case they come back to haunt you the next morning!

Ingredients:

• 2 ounce vodka

• 1 ounce vanilla syrup

• 1 ounce cream

• 2 ounces soda

Instructions:

Use a shaker to mix all the ingredients and serve in a frozen martini glass.
